boca-pointe-29Can you believe that…

  • Fall is right around the corner?
  • Inquiries are coming in on a steady basis through the Club at Boca Pointe’s website and Facebook page?

But why, you ask?

Because the Club at Boca Pointe has the solution to the most typical questions being asked by those who want a country club experience without the typical country club commitment.

1.  You do not have to live in the Boca Pointe community to play at the Club at Boca Pointe.  The Club is the only full service, private, equity country club in South Florida that is not mandatory.  Members join the Club because they want to, not because they have to, and may join as non-equity members.

2.  Under the unique Premier membership program, members may define their own lifestyle by not only choosing the number of months they want to be members, but also the level of activities they want.  For example, a Premier membership is available for as few as three consecutive months for the first year and then four or more months thereafter.

All of the Premier membership categories have club/ social privileges, which includes full dining (three restaurants and two lounges), use of the Sports & Fitness Complex and Club pool, access to all the social activities arranged by a social director, as well as card and Mah Jongg play.  Tennis and golf can be added to the membership for an additional fee.

“The Premier membership continues to be a huge success with a very high renewal rate,” says a proud Helen Karpel, general manager of the Club.  “We have members from areas such as Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Pompano Beach, Deerfield Beach, as well as throughout Boca Raton and all the way up to Highland Beach.

“The high retention rate demonstrates that we have the right membership programs that provide a rewarding country club experience with a reasonable pricing structure.  Many of our Premier members are accustomed to driving up to 30 minutes to the Club, which is very familiar to those from the Northeast where the clubs are non-residential.” Karpel adds.

If your only interest is golf, the Club at Boca Pointe has an Annual Golf membership program that answers this need.  It also offers lunch and lounge privileges with dining access one time a week in the main clubhouse.

The Club at Boca Pointe is all about making new friends and enjoying them for many years to come, loving life, and creating many wonderful memories.  To learn more about the many membership options, please call 561-864-8539.

The Club’s motto is simple:  “You do not have to live at Boca Pointe to play at the Club at Boca Pointe!”

Simple enough, for sure, but that is among the many things that separate the Club at Boca Pointe from the typical private country clubs in South Florida. The Club welcomes year-round and seasonal Floridians wherever they might live.

“We have many members who live on the A1A corridor from Highland Beach to the north and from Lighthouse Point to the south,” says Helen Karpel, general manager of the club that features flexible membership options.

“Our members represent a combination of snowbirds and newly-minted Florida residents, both of whom are well versed as Northerners and Midwesterners in country club living that requires a 20 or even 30 minute drive.  They see no difference in driving to our club in less than 25 minutes depending where they live.”

Boca Pointe’s flexible memberships provide great opportunities to enjoy the country club experience without the typical country club financial commitment. Whether your interest is social, tennis, golf or some combination, there is an option.

    • If you are looking for a private golf course experience, the Club at Boca Pointe offers an annual golf membership to enjoy its 18-hole championship golf course.  It offers some challenging holes with extremely friendly fairways.  Golf can be enjoyed socially or competitively with team/league play.
  • If you are looking for tennis year-round in a social environment, the Club at Boca Pointe offers an annual tennis membership to enjoy its 16 beautifully manicured Har Tru courts.  The courts are perfect to play socially or competitively with or team/league play.
    • If you are looking for sports and fitness in general with some dining options, the Club at Boca Pointe offers an annual sports & fitness membership.  This membership offers full access to fitness, the Club pool and tennis as well some access to golf and dining.
    • If you are looking for a full country club experience, the Club at Boca Pointe offers a Premier membership that is right for you. The Premier membership is not only another flexible avenue for you, but it can be taken on a seasonal basis.

The Premier membership is basically a club/social program that includes full use of the main clubhouse where the main dining room, newly opened Grand Café, and lounges are located as well as the very active card/Mah Jongg rooms. The Premier membership also includes full access to the new state-of-the-art Sports & Fitness Complex where the Club pool is enjoyed along with a workout room and many cardio classes.  Golf and tennis can be added to this membership.

Premier Memberships are available from 3 to 12 months for the first year and from 4 to 12 months from the second year and thereafter.  Any combination can be designed to fit your own lifestyle and for the number of months you are in South Florida.

“The flexibility in our membership options is what makes our club stand out from all the other clubs,” says Karpel.  “We are a non-mandatory equity club so members are able to enjoy an equity membership without the buy-in financial commitment.

“Golf members can decide to just come to the club to play golf and enjoy happy hour while living on beach front property in Highland Beach, while other members in the same location can decide to play golf and enjoy the full amenities of the Club. There is so much to do at the Club – we have other members who live along the A1A corridor who do not play golf but just come late in the morning to play cards, or any number of other games in the card rooms, stay for dinner, and perhaps a show or a lecture.  They make the drive once and stay for the day.  It is all about preference … and Boca Pointe allows our members to make every day feel like a weekend!”

What does being a member of a country club and Thanksgiving have in common?  Food and plenty of it…and, more importantly, family and friends…at the Club at Boca Pointe, it is one big family affair!

Executive Chef Terry Daniels and his talented team prepared 48 turkeys equivalent to 1,232 pounds.  Additionally, there were the much anticipated trimmings from stuffing to sweet potato to a delectable arrangement of desserts.

The Club served 759 in the main dining room where members, their families, and friends gathered from 2:30 in the afternoon to the last seating at 7 p.m.  No one left hungry!

When it comes to the Club at Boca Pointe, family it takes on a whole different meaning and with a unique twist. Not only did the Club entertain and serve 759 dinners, Chef Terry accommodated some very unique situations.

The Club prepared several meals that members picked up to serve their families and friends in their homes. Moreover, if a member was under the weather, maybe in a rehab facility or even a hospital, they are not forgotten by the Club. Chef Terry prepared a number of individual meals that members were able to take to the facility for their loved ones.

“Not only do we have a talented and dedicated staff,” boasts Helen Karpel, general manager of the only country club in South Florida where members can define their own membership, “but the Club at Boca Pointe is all about family. The Club is considered one of the friendliest country clubs in South Florida where members fit right in from the first day.

Our family of members include members of many different categories – we have our equity, Premier, Annual Golf, Sports & Fitness, Passport and Annual Tennis members.  Since we are not a mandatory equity club, the Club is able to develop a range of unique memberships to meet different lifestyles.

“The most popular is our Premier Membership program, which allows someone to join from three to 12 months the first year and then from four months to 12 months from the second year and thereafter.  All of the Premier categories include full usage of the new Sports & Fitness Complex, pool, card rooms, robust social events, and dining facilities – three restaurants and two lounges, along with privileges to play tennis and golf, driven by the membership category chosen. We have a strong contingent of Premier members from the entire Northeast corridor, Wisconsin, Chicago and, of course, a wonderful, friendly group from Canada.

“California, here we come!” Remember that popular phrase?! That sentiment still might exist for some people, but for one couple, they flipped the comment by saying, “Boca Raton here we come.”

That is exactly the case for Dr. and Mrs. Phil Rosen when they moved from Southern California to Boca Raton as their children were off to college and faced the empty nest syndrome in June 2015.

“We were tired with the traffic and high taxes in California and decided to purchase a home in West Boca.  We are both golfers and started playing the public courses.  Everyone told us that once the “season” started the public courses would get very crowded,” explained Felice Rosen. “In September 2015, we started “club” shopping.

“Because we already owned a home in Boca Raton, we did not look at mandatory equity clubs.  We look at many other clubs. We knew about Boca Pointe because my aunt lives there.

“Initially we decided to join Boca Pointe because they offered a three-month option for the first year as part of its Premier membership program. We knew we could try it out without a major commitment.  We joined November 1, 2015 as Premier golf members.  We went to the New Year’s Eve dinner-dance, and even though we only knew a few people, we felt very welcomed and included.  In February 2016, we extended through August 2016 and added tennis to our membership.

“We wanted to see how summers were at the Club as we are full time residents in Florida.  We were pleasantly surprised how much there was to do in the summer.  On September 1, 2016, we took a full year membership knowing that this was the right place for us.  Everyone is very friendly and unassuming.  Coming from the Malibu/Calabasas area of Los Angeles, we were done with pretentious people! We were welcomed warmly.  I can’t think of one person who was put off because we lived “off-site,” added Mrs. Rosen.

“At first we were a bit worried about making friends.  Then we joined the Boomers Club – we are both on the “cusp” of being Boomers – on opposite sides!  This is where we started making friends.  We now have a multitude of friends and couldn’t be happier.  We have golf friends, tennis friends, social friends, and some that overlap.  Actually, most of our friends in Florida are Boca Pointe club members!”

“We both started playing tennis; I play canasta and Mah Jongg three times per week.  Philip has found a Thursday night poker game.  We have dinner at the club with friends and also go to outside events with club members.  We eat dinner at the club at least once per week and usually have breakfast after playing tennis on the weekends. WE LOVE BOCA POINTE!!!” concludes the Rosens. The best country club in Boca Raton.

BOCA-POINTE 9 (1)Ask around: What does the Club at Boca Pointe stand for?

Some of the adjectives used are: Warm, friendly, engaging, accepting, open arms, inviting. Not pretentious!

These qualities become significant once you have made the decision to move to South Florida and begin to look at a lifestyle that will be important to you. Moving from your first and maybe only home “up north” can be, and often is, traumatic and dramatic. The questions often dancing through your mind include: Do I move into a country club, do I live in a gated community, where will I fit it, how will social life take shape?

Those are common questions facing those moving to South Florida or spending more seasonal time in the area. “We hear that all the time,” says Helen Karpel, general manager of the Club at Boca Pointe. “The hallmark for our Club is very simple: warm, embracing, and accepting.

“Our Club is wide open. Whatever activities you enjoy, from fitness to tennis, golf, dining, playing cards or enjoying lectures and Broadway-style entertainment, the Club at Boca Pointe makes it easy to participate. You can even enjoy doing nothing…just hang out around the pool or the clubhouse, ‘it’s all yours for the taking.’ Walk once around the clubhouse and you will make friends instantly – that is Boca Pointe!

“All clubs offer golf, tennis, fitness, card rooms and dining. The main and very important difference, however, that makes the Club at Boca Pointe stand out is its social programming.

“Our social director is tops in South Florida. In fact, many of our Club’s counterparts call our social director for help and guidance. Not only does she book trips, Broadway shows, FAU professor lectures, Friday night shows at the Club, and so much more, but she is instrumental in helping new members socialize,” adds Karpel. “No new member is left behind. Our social director reaches out to all new members and plays a major role in integrating them into club life.

“Our Club is built on the premise that you do not have to live at Boca Pointe to play or socialize here. We are no different than most clubs in the north that are non-residential, where most members live anywhere from 20 to 30 minutes from their club. While the Club at Boca Pointe does have a strong residential base, we have a number of membership programs that allow you to play here without living here. Some members elect to live closer to the ocean in such communities as Highland Beach, Deerfield Beach, and Pompano Beach as well as throughout Boca Raton.” explains Karpel.

The Club at Boca Pointe has designed a number of memberships that allow members to choose the type of activities they prefer, including its unique Premier membership that allows you to join for as few as three consecutive months (first year only) and then four consecutive months thereafter to accommodate seasonal Floridians. There is also an Annual Golf membership for those whose main interest is to play golf on a private, championship golf course.

With so many membership offerings and especially the Premier membership with members joining for just a fraction of the year, it is important for members to be able to make friends, love life and create memories quickly to get the most out of their stay. The Club at Boca Pointe has earned the reputation of being instrumental in helping ease the transition of its members into their new lifestyle regardless of where they decide to live in South Florida.

The Club at Boca Pointe is the only full service country club in South Florida that is not mandatory residency or not mandatory equity – the only thing mandatory for its members is to have fun and is one of the nicest country clubs in Boca Raton! Call 561-864-8539 today to learn more!
