SEASON MAY BE OVER IN SOUTH FLORIDA, BUT GOLF PROGRAMMING FLOURISHES AT THE CLUB AT BOCA POINTE

BOCA POINTE 220 golf double men sandtrapSeason over! Who says the golf course at the Club at Boca Pointe is quiet? Not by a long shot says Buck Deibel, director of golf at the only club in South Florida where members can design their own lifestyle membership.

Summer is in full swing on the golf course at the Club at Boca Pointe with an array of events, including tournaments, lessons, clinics and the usual, but ever-important, maintenance program. Boca Pointe’s members are enjoying the beautifully renovated 18-hole championship golf course throughout the summer months in sunny South Florida, whether it is morning or afternoon play.

Deibel and Rick McGee, head golf professional, are holding weekly clinics for all aspects of the game—women golfers on Wednesdays and men on Thursdays. These complimentary clinics for golf members have met with great success. “It is just our way of giving back to the membership a little something extra in the off-season,” says Deibel, who is one of the few PGA pros in South Florida that has achieved “Master” status.

Like a little competition on the course? Summer golf at the Club at Boca Pointe offers that as well! Competitive programming includes hosting:

  • Golf teams for the Ladies’ South County League, Men’s South County League, and Emerald League for low handicappers.
  • Boys of Summer league, a unique, fun nine-hole competition, on Wednesdays when the South County team is playing at another course.
  • Monthly Sunday Mixers usually themed around a holiday. The Mixers draw sellout entrants, welcoming couples and singles.

“All that activity and regular play is planned around a strategic summer maintenance program,” adds Deibel. “Summer is the grass growing season, but we also have to aerate the greens and punch the fairways, as well as groom the roughs with an aggressive attack on the weeds. Implementing this aggressive maintenance program means plush greens and fairways along with a beautiful course all year long.”

Coupled with beautiful amenities are very friendly members and a unique menu of membership opportunities that makes the Club at Boca Pointe the place to be! Memberships are available for residents and non-residents of the Boca Pointe community, whether full time and seasonal Floridians. As a membership driven club where you do not have to live to play, friendships and memories are made daily among South Floridians who just want to love life and live the dream! SINGING, BAND: WHAT’S NEXT FOR SPECIAL ACTIVITIES AT THE CLUB AT BOCA POINTE

Music-music-31055637-1920-1200As the saying goes: “give them a finger and they’ll take the whole hand,” the Club at Boca Pointe welcomes this luxury when it comes to pleasing its members!

“Several members approached us wanting to put together a singing group. From there, it took on a life of its own,” says Helen Karpel, general manager of the Club at Boca Pointe, a forward-thinking, member-friendly private club where members can literally design their own membership for seasonal or year-round tenures while in the Boca Raton area.

“With the Board of Governors approval, the new group was formed and set up with a space to practice,” according to Karpel. “Before we knew it, a group of more than 30 members quickly banded together and blended the harmonies of their choice to make some beautiful music!”

As the idiom goes, the singing group was the finger. The hand came next – to form a band! “Once again, the Board happily approved this new endeavor for the members, so now Boca Pointe has singers and musicians. What’s next? Maybe the whole arm! That might mean putting the singers and the band together who will start touring South Florida!

“This is what separates the Club at Boca Pointe from other Clubs. Not only is Boca Pointe non-mandatory when it comes to buying equity, but its team is totally dedicated to member happiness and satisfaction. Management and the Board operate on an open door to receive ideas that can work and implementing them.”

In addition to the two new groups, special interest-activities that are member run feature the Adventurers Club, with nearly 200 members within the club; What’s Up, a monthly group that meets on unique subjects; Today’s Living Club, doing special activities with those who recently lost a loved one; and the Boomers group that programs special events.

Beyond these targeted groups, the Club regularly schedules a variety of entertaining and educational social activities throughout the year, including various lecturers including professors from FAU as part of the Club’s Learning Center. Members are also engaged in active card play of all types, Mah Jongg games, golf and tennis play socially and competitively, as well as fitness, dining and lounge privileges.Who cannot find something to do at the Club at Boca Pointe? THE CLUB AT BOCA POINTE SOLVES BIG QUESTION: WHAT TO DO WITH YOUR SPARE TIME?

The kids are back in school…the grandkids returned home to their parents…you are getting ready to have some “me” time, whether you live in Boca Pointe or are returning from your northern home to live in a nearby community!

Sound familiar? Bet it does!

So, what are you doing to fill the void? Some of you are perhaps working and others doing volunteer work; however, many of you are likely looking for something fun to do that will keep your body and mind active.   Did you know that you can achieve this by simply joining Boca Pointe?

The Club at Boca Pointe allows you to design and define your own lifestyle…a lifestyle that will be enriching and rewarding. If you are a year-round resident, you have two great options: equity and non-equity memberships available year-round. If you live in Florida part time, you may want to consider Boca Pointe’s unique seasonal, non-equity Premier membership.

The Club at Boca Pointe has a variety of memberships that are designed to specifically fit the “new” member who want to “try” out the Club, many of whom are still in the workplace. For example, Boca Pointe now offers two unique opportunities to use the new Sports and Fitness Complex along with other sports amenities.

These two 12 month membership programs, Family Sports and Family Sports & Golf, are afternoon type of memberships with access to the Club’s different sports amenities at varied times.  It is ideal for fitness minded people, working parents with families, and working people in general who mainly want to use the tennis and new Sports & Fitness Complex, while enjoying different golf options available between the two programs.  This grants access to the main clubhouse’s “To-Go” menu and dinner in the main clubhouse one time a month on a designated Thursday.

Since we know working people often like to go to the gym early, these afternoon membership make an exception for early morning access to the Sports Fitness Complex to get those endorphins flowing on state-of-the-art fitness equipment or a fitness classes before heading to work. We all know a good workout helps relieve stress and feel better, which is a great start to the day! Later in the day, you may want to return for a late day fitness class, cool dip in the pool, time on the tennis court, or a quick nine holes of golf before settling down at home. Or, perhaps mid-day, you may want to come by to just enjoy a “Cup of Joe” or light lunch at the new Freshe Pointe Café while meeting some new friends.

At the same time, if you want to just “tantalize your palate” with some fun between a very busy schedule, you could start as a Passport member of Boca Pointe. It offers 30 usages of the Club in a year, excluding social and special club event. On those 30 days, a Passport member can enjoy the Sports & Fitness Complex, Club pool, card rooms, dining, and the lounges, as well as complementary tennis after 11:30 a.m. and pay and play golf within certain tee time parameters.

The most popular and fastest growing non-equity membership at the Club at Boca Pointe, however, is Premier membership. The Premier Membership allows you to enjoy the club experience without the typical country club commitment. This membership has a unique twist in that you can design your lifestyle by membership category and pick the number of months you will be in Florida or how many months you want to fill your calendar with a more active lifestyle.

The Premier membership caters to both year-round and seasonal members.  It is for those living in Boca Pointe or the surrounding area for at least three consecutive months (ranging from the “snowbird” to those in the local area year round).  For the second year and thereafter, a minimum of four consecutive months is required for this membership.

All of the Premier membership categories include full usage of the new Sports & Fitness Complex, Club pool, card rooms, robust social events, dining facilities, and lounges, along with privileges to play tennis and golf, driven by the membership category chosen.  The social events range from a cruise, to going with friends to the theater, to diverse entertainment on the Boca Pointe campus, to day trips, to seminars from professors at local universities, to book clubs and art classes, the list goes on and on.

The Premier membership is so popular that every year we have a very high retention rate! This is largely because Premier members are at the club making new friends and building on existing friendships that inevitably create fond memories and enrich lives in a way that is invaluable. Boca Pointe becomes family!

We strongly encourage you to take advantage of Boca Pointe’s flexible membership options. Feel welcome to stop into the membership department or give us a call at 561-864-8539 to ask questions and learn about all of the options. We would love to welcome you to a new way of life – a club life – where your calendar is always full and the warm, friendly smiles are endless!

Please note that “Yappy Hour” scheduled for December 6, 2015, has been cancelled. We are looking to possibly having an event of this type in the future. A special thanks to those who volunteered to help at the event.

GOLFERS’ DILEMMA: PUTT OR CHIP FROM OFF THE GREEN! CLUB AT BOCA POINTE MASTER PGA PRO OFFERS HIS ADVICE

The Golfers’ dilemma: to chip or putt from just off the fringe of the green! Better golfers, i.e., low handicappers, usually have more faith in their chipping ability, whereas high handicappers might feel more comfortable with the putter, says Buck Deibel, director of golf at the Club at Boca Pointe.

“There is no right or wrong choice. It is just a matter of preference,” says Mr. Deibel, PGA Master Professional.

“There are two key elements to consider. First, of course, is the condition of the grass from which you decide to putt. If it is smooth, with very little bumps, it might be worth a try putting, like even some of the pros do. Second, of course, is your own comfortable level with the putter or chip shot.

“If you elect to putt from the fringe or even slightly further back, depending on the course conditions, grip the putter using your normal putting grip. Set up as if you were going to chip the ball with the ball position off your right toe, weight on your left side, and the hand of the club forward at address. Instead of a normal putting stroke, strike the ball with a slightly descending blow. This puts top spin on the ball and causes the ball to hop which is much more effective when putting through the fringe. In most cases, you strike the ball with the same amount of force that you would normally use when putting from the green.”

You can try all the tricks of the trade on your own, but if you are like most, a private lesson makes it much easier to learn. Boca Pointe encourages you to leverage Mr. Deibel’s Master PGA professional expertise, or one of his qualified professional teaching staff, to improve your game. MEGAN HALL NAMED DIRECTOR OF TENNIS AT THE CLUB AT BOCA POINTE

Megan Hall, well-known in the Northeast for not only training top young players, but developing new tennis programs, has been appointed director of tennis at the Club at Boca Pointe, according to Helen Karpel, general manager.

“We Tennis_Racket_and_Ballsare delighted to have Megan join our Club. Last year, we had the opportunity to watch Megan work with our members and youngsters during the season. Everyone was very impressed with both her ability on the court and her enthusiasm.

“Her high energy added a new level of excitement to our tennis program. So, when the opportunity arose, it was an easy choice to bring her aboard full-time as director of tennis.”

Megan was one of the tennis professionals at the Spratley Tennis Academy in South Florida when she trained competitive, top-ranked international tennis players. She was also an assistant tennis professional at the Agawam Hunt Country Cub in Rumford, Rhode Island, as well as serving as heads coach for the girls and boys tennis teams at the Providence Country Day Private School.

Last year, Megan was ranked No. 3 in New England’s Women’s Single Open division and is a 5.0 NTRP ranked player.

THE CLUB AT BOCA POINTE LAUNCHES NEW WEBSITE WITH TRANSLATIONS INTO FOREIGN LANGUAGES

Screen shot 2014-11-24 at 3.02.19 PM

The population growth in South Florida continues to boom, and in case you haven’t noticed, it is no longer only those coming from the Northeast or Midwest corridors. Now, the population comes from many different countries. This is what makes South Florida so exciting and vibrant.

There is a substantial migration from South America—namely Argentina and Brazil—as well as from a few European countries. There are also more and more Canadians who buy a second home in South Florida and play a huge role in the population spurt, at least during the six-month season when cold weather is being experienced by so many north of us.

“We are tracking these growth trends,” says Helen Karpel, general manager of The Club at Boca Pointe, where members can enjoy the country club lifestyle without the country club commitment. The Club at Boca Pointe is the only non-mandatory private equity country club in Boca Raton where members can enjoy equity quality services as non-equity members during the months of stay in Florida as residents and non-residents of the Boca Pointe community.

“We just launched the Club’s new website and one of the features is translation into two foreign languages with a third to come. Right now we have a French version because we do attract a number of French Canadians and Portuguese because of the influx of Brazilians. Next, we will be translating our offering into Spanish to reach our South American neighbors, namely those from Venezuela who are moving to the Boca Raton area. We are seeing the migration with business professionals and that is the perfect audience for us.” according to Ms. Karpel.

Boca Pointe offers an environment where everyone is welcome. Its fastest growing membership category is its Premier membership because it caters to so many different lifestyles. This membership is designed to allow the members to define their own lifestyle for the specific number of months they want without paying equity fees, bonds or initiation fees.

As a Premier member, there are eight categories to choose among so members can customize their experience around what they enjoy doing, starting with a robust social lifestyle and offering additional options for golf and tennis. Boca Pointe is a country club known for its friendliness. The Premier membership offerings start at as few as three consecutive months for the first year with the option to take any number of months between three to twelve months.

If you have not talked with the membership department, yet, to see how you can enrich your life with a full calendar of fun and the opportunity to meet new friends, we encourage you to call today at 561-864-8539.
