SINGING, BAND: WHAT’S NEXT FOR SPECIAL ACTIVITIES AT THE CLUB AT BOCA POINTE

Music-music-31055637-1920-1200As the saying goes: “give them a finger and they’ll take the whole hand,” the Club at Boca Pointe welcomes this luxury when it comes to pleasing its members!

“Several members approached us wanting to put together a singing group. From there, it took on a life of its own,” says Helen Karpel, general manager of the Club at Boca Pointe, a forward-thinking, member-friendly private club where members can literally design their own membership for seasonal or year-round tenures while in the Boca Raton area.

“With the Board of Governors approval, the new group was formed and set up with a space to practice,” according to Karpel. “Before we knew it, a group of more than 30 members quickly banded together and blended the harmonies of their choice to make some beautiful music!”

As the idiom goes, the singing group was the finger. The hand came next – to form a band! “Once again, the Board happily approved this new endeavor for the members, so now Boca Pointe has singers and musicians. What’s next? Maybe the whole arm! That might mean putting the singers and the band together who will start touring South Florida!

“This is what separates the Club at Boca Pointe from other Clubs. Not only is Boca Pointe non-mandatory when it comes to buying equity, but its team is totally dedicated to member happiness and satisfaction. Management and the Board operate on an open door to receive ideas that can work and implementing them.”

In addition to the two new groups, special interest-activities that are member run feature the Adventurers Club, with nearly 200 members within the club; What’s Up, a monthly group that meets on unique subjects; Today’s Living Club, doing special activities with those who recently lost a loved one; and the Boomers group that programs special events.

Beyond these targeted groups, the Club regularly schedules a variety of entertaining and educational social activities throughout the year, including various lecturers including professors from FAU as part of the Club’s Learning Center. Members are also engaged in active card play of all types, Mah Jongg games, golf and tennis play socially and competitively, as well as fitness, dining and lounge privileges.Who cannot find something to do at the Club at Boca Pointe? Whether you are retired or work, The Club at Boca Pointe has a membership for you! Boca Pointe is a non-mandatory equity country club. In addition to its 12-months equity membership options, residents of Boca Pointe can explore several non-equity programs, including its seasonal to year-round Premier membership, 12-months Family Sports memberships, and 30-day Passport membership.

Do you have children who are itching to do something after school with you, or are you a parent who wants to enjoy quality time with the kids after work? Maybe, you are an empty nester but still work. Are you fitness minded with an extremely busy schedule, having limited time early morning or early to late afternoon to workout … maybe you would like to play some tennis or get in nine or eighteen holes of golf late afternoon? If this sounds like you, The Club at Boca Pointe has just introduced a new membership for you!

front lobby vert“We are proud of the club’s new Sports and Fitness Complex, which recently opened,” says Helen Karpel, general manager. “As part of the excitement, the club’s Board of Governors introduced two new sports membership programs designed for families and fitness minded residents and non-residents of the Boca Pointe community who have not yet been members of the club.”

The new Family Sports memberships are an excellent introduction to the country club and complement other non-equity memberships offered by Boca Pointe. The club’s broad and diverse programs provide members the opportunity to define their lifestyle. The club’s Premier and Passport memberships additionally offer flexibility in terms of how long the member is residing in South Florida, whether own or lease.

gymAs an afternoon type of membership, the Family Sports membership meets a new type of lifestyle interest. It is ideal for fitness minded people who work, working parents with families, and working people in general. The Club at Boca Pointe has beautiful amenities that can be enjoyed before and after work. If you do not work and find yourself more interested in afternoon activities, perhaps to enjoy with your children, this is perfect for you as well! These are 12 month memberships perfect for those mainly interested in sports activities.

There are two variations to the Family Sports membership. Both variations entitle the member to use the tennis facilities, new Sports & Fitness Complex, and golf course at specific times of day. Food can be enjoyed at the Freshe Pointe Café & Patio conveniently located in the new Sports & Fitness Complex. Additionally, members can regularly enjoy the main clubhouse’s “To-Go” menu and dinner in the main clubhouse one time a month on a designated Thursday.

For the person who does not golf or does not expect to golf frequently, the Family Sports membership is perfect because the golf privilege is offered on a pay-as-you play basis. For the person who expects to play golf often, the Family Sports & Golf membership is perfect because the golf privilege is offered on an unlimited basis at specified times with no additional cart or greens fees. Both memberships are designed for late afternoon golf play.

If all of this sounds attractive but you want to get even more access to the clubhouse, there are many additional options! If you are in Florida year-round, you may want to consider purchasing an equity membership, which offers you ten categories to choose from, all of which include full social privileges with the option to add golf and tennis in various combinations. The full social privileges include the magnificent new Sports & Fitness complex, the beautiful pool along with a hot tub nearby and splash deck for the kids, the active card and Mahjongg rooms, robust social events, delicious dining facilities, and fun lounges that include Happy Hour. If you are not ready to purchase an equity membership, The Club at Boca Pointe offers two non-equity programs for residents in addition to the Family Sports memberships.

Are you a seasonal resident living in the Boca Pointe community for at least three months? You may want to explore the Premier membership that offers eight categories, all of which include full social privileges with the option to add golf and tennis in various combinations. The Premier membership allows you to take as few as three months the first year of membership and as few as four months from the second year thereafter.

What if you are in Florida on just an occasional basis because you still work up north? Well, you can consider the Passport membership. This membership allows you to use the clubhouse for 30 days in a 365 day timeframe. It includes all the amenities other than the social programs and special events. On those 30 days, you can enjoy the new Sports & Fitness Complex, pool, and all the complex related amenities, as well as the dining facilities, lounges, and card and Mahjongg rooms. Additionally, you can play tennis and golf at designated times based on availability. For golf, it is on a pay as you play basis.

The Club at Boca Pointe would love to have all the residents of the community enjoy Boca Pointe’s country club. If you have never been a member and own in the Boca Pointe community, the club is extending an incentive to those of you who join as a Premier member for at least six months. This offer is for a limited time, so please do not miss out!

With so many membership options to choose from, what are you waiting for? Boca Pointe encourages you to call the membership department at 561-864-8539 to learn more. You can call the new Sports & Fitness complex to arrange a tour at 561-864-8551 and then set an appointment with membership to visit and take a tour of the main clubhouse. We look forward to hearing from you and having you with us as part of the Boca Pointe family!

“We feel the Sports and Fitness Complex will be attractive to new Boca Pointe residents, especially those with children. Many new residents are working families and a facility like this one will enable them to enjoy socializing with other families and begin to feel what country club living is all about.

“Toward that goal, we are working to develop new family memberships that will be attractive to working families, who have never been a member, and who enjoy fitness and sports. The new memberships are part of our continued effort to meet varied lifestyle interests.

“Working members will be able to decompress before getting home by exercising in the gym, enjoying a quick game of tennis, or playing a fast nine holes, or even eighteen holes, of golf. When weekends roll around, pool time arrives, and if your schedule permits, the pool is even available during the week!

EXCITED ANTICIPATION AS THE NEW SPORTS AND FITNESS COMPLEX NEARS ITS GRAND OPENING

EPSON MFP image

“The new Sports and Fitness Complex at The Club at Boca Pointe is not only beautiful and highly functional but on budget and expected to open by early February of 2015. Our members will enjoy working out, spa services, aerobic type classes, a teen room, steam and sauna, hot tub, a pool and so much more in this newly designed facility!” beams a proud Helen Karpel, general manager.

“We have one company and one man to thank for the amazing new Sports and Fitness Complex. It is New York Design Collaborative, Inc., and the company’s president, Bill Buscaglia. The company, actually Bill primarily, was responsible for the conceptual design while his team of licensed architects, engineers and interior designers did all of the architectural renderings and construction drawings so that contractors could bid on the job.” Ms. Karpel explains.

One of the most, if not the most, important areas of responsibility is to ensure the construction company not only follows the plans, but also stays on budget and meets tight timelines, which Bill has managed beautifully. He works with the construction company and, when necessary, the sub-contractors as well. The challenges are very simple: what is in an architectural drawing may not turn out to be so easy to accomplish…so they have to find solutions while staying within budget. Not surprising, they have accomplished these goals well, leveraging their professional expertise.

In addition, Bill and his team have been working closely with Palm Beach County Building Inspectors to ensure all of the permits are obtained and inspections approved. “Palm Beach County Building codes are very strong. The inspectors know their stuff. If they see something that they don’t like, even though it was approved in the original drawings, they have the right to ask for changes. We have to make these changes or find a solution that satisfies them. So far, we have had a good working relationship with all the building inspectors for each specialty, and we do not foresee any problems in getting a certificate of occupancy,” Mr. Buscaglia states confidently.

“There are always challenges when you build a new structure and match it with an existing structure as we are doing with the new Sports and Fitness Complex and the existing building. The inspectors took long hard looks at the roofing, and with modifications here and there, they signed off on it – that was a very important inspection.” as Mr. Buscaglia breathes a celebratory sigh of relief.

Our members are going to love the new facility. It is bright, roomy and functional. The rooms flow from the entrance throughout the entire facility. It is going to be a “WOW” factor from the new look in the café area to the functioning exercise rooms. The pool area will have a facelift, too…to complement the newly designed 20,000 square foot Sports and Fitness Complex.

The unveiling of the new Sports and Fitness Complex will be as exciting as our newly designed lobby unveiled last year, which was also managed by Bill and his company. The Club at Boca Pointe is transforming before our eyes! The dawning of a new era continues to add excited anticipation for members to enjoy enhanced privileges at the club!

BOCA POINTE ON THE MOVE WITH MORE EXCITING RENOVATIONS: GOLF COURSE FAIRWAYS, TEES, CART PATHS, AND IRRIGATION SYSTEM

The Club at Boca Pointe is on the move again!

140609162

The members gave overwhelming consent—golfers and non-golfers alike—to start work on installing a new irrigation system as well as rebuilding the fairways, tee boxes and cart paths of their well-designed, Jack Nicklaus golf course. These improvements will keep the Boca Pointe community beautiful and players challenged!

“The golf course is essential to the continued success of our Club.” according to Helen Karpel, general manager at The Club at Boca Pointe. “For example,” she adds, “we are experiencing good growth through our uniquely flexible Premier membership program, and it is essential to have a great golf course.”

According to Karpel, the golf course and its irrigation system are original, nearly 32 years old. The irrigation system has been breaking down, and it is becoming more difficult to find parts. Notably she adds, “While we rebuilt the greens about 10 years ago, it is time to rebuild the fairways to be competitive.”

Boca Pointe will be installing a new grass called Celebration, which does not require tilling and grows fast in the South Florida climate. And, while improvements are in the air, the tee boxes and cart paths will be redone to give the golf course a pristine look and feel. Smartly, they also proactively addressed the need to replace the irrigation system to ensure proper watering for the long-term growth of the grass.

“With the new, state-of-the-art irrigation system to support healthy fairways,” Karpel explains, “we will have a more beautiful and competitive golf course for the Boca Pointe community and members to enjoy.” In addition to the golf upgrades, the Club is looking forward to its new, state-of-the-art Sports and Fitness complex, accompanied by its newly designed main clubhouse lobby. Karpel notes, “These enhancements will give our country club a fresh look and even further appeal.”

The Board and its leaders are making every effort to ease the process of construction. Work on the golf course will be strategically divided over two summers for the members’ greatest convenience and benefit. Similarly, the Sports and Fitness Complex is on target for a completion by the end of 2014 or early 2015. Boca Pointe can relate to the familiar motto, “No pain, No gain.” The Club is doing its best to alleviate the pain of construction and accentuate the gain to come. Our members are the very best, and through their cooperation, they demonstrate their understanding of the complexities involved in achieving our goals and appreciation of the reward soon to be enjoyed by all!

Membership always welcomes inquiries to learn more about being part of the Boca Pointe family. Please call them today at 561-864-8539 to learn more.
