club life 16-17 Cover new v20 JPGClub Life, the social and entertainment bible for the Club at Boca Pointe is going to press with a record-breaking number of events, according to Jane Young, social director of the only private country club in South Florida where you don’t have to live there to play there.

Every summer Young releases the amazing calendar of events planned for Boca Pointe’s members for the upcoming year. Between Broadway production shows to lectures from Florida Atlantic University (FAU) professors to themed dinner dances to an array of children’s event, the Club at Boca Pointe’s social/entertainment calendar for the new fall/winter seasons will offer several hundred events, designed to satisfy the taste buds of every member.

“We have a unique mix of members…from those who are new to club life, those who are newly retired boomers, those who are single to those who have been with the club for a number years. We have golfers, tennis players, fitness enthusiasts, socialites, dining connoisseurs, card room aficionados along with those who have a combination of these interests. We have been able to develop social programs to meet the needs of all of our members…and we must say, the members are very active. It is not unusual for an event to sell out as soon as reservations open,” Young shares with enthusiasm.

The Club at Boca Pointe outshines all other country clubs in South Florida when it comes to its social programming. It is remarkably common to see two, three or even four buses leave the property several times a week during the season for a night on the town, whether it is destined for the theater, casino, shopping or museums.

“Since we are the only club in the area that allows its members to design their own membership,” adds Helen Karpel, general manager, “we have to be more creative in our offerings. All the country clubs in the area are mandatory; we are not. Members want to belong to the Club at Boca Pointe because we offer the full country club experience without the traditional country club commitment.

“All clubs offer golf, tennis and fitness. We do, too, but we assure that each of those departments have well developed programs to make it an enjoyable club experience. Beyond that, we have the most active social programming in South Florida that includes on and off-campus activities,” Karpel adds. These activities include:

  • playbill 16-17 Cover v1-1.jpgFive top Broadway National Touring productions at the Brown Center
  • A unique series of topical lectures from leading FAU professors as part of the Marleen and Harold Forkas Lifelong Learning Center.
  • Performing art series at the Spanish River Church featuring Hungary’s foremost violinist, music from the Beatles, and the big band sounds of Tommy Dorsey and Glenn Miller.
  • Miami City Ballet series.
  • Clubs within the Club, including the Adventurers’ Club, Camera Club, Performing Scam Troupe, Today Life Continues for Single Women, Volunteer Club serving the community, Yiddish Club, What’ Up featuring topical speakers monthly, and the Boca Pointe Clowns on Call that appear at various non-profit activities throughout the community.

It is not possible to list the myriad of fun events, but these highlights give you an idea of the diversity offered to meet the needs of a very broad demographic group of members. To further meet the interests of many different lifestyles and interests, the Club at Boca Point offers equity and non-equity memberships with categories that range from a 30 day to seasonal to year-round memberships.
