playbill coverWhat do the Michael Jackson Immortal Tour, The Bronx Wanderers, The Lion King, and first-run movies have in common?

The answer is very simple … The Club at Boca Pointe! Right here, under your nose, taking place on your campus. This all comes with being a member of The Club at Boca Pointe, which is excitedly part of the dawning of a new era and the renaissance of the entire community.

Jane Young, the Club’s social director, has put together a calendar of events for the 2014-2015 season that is a showstopper, not to mention the wonderful entertainment still being enjoyed this summer. July and August have such diverse events planned for our members to enjoy.

Big screen movies in the Club’s Main Dining Room before they are even available in regular theaters! This is what Jane Young has put together for Thursday nights, once a month, from June through the start of the season. Moreover, she invites a film critic to have an open discussion with you after previewing the movie, with a surprise visit from an actor on occasion. All of this for only $5…a price that is really priceless!

What else is on the horizon in July and August?

Impressionist/Singer Suzi Cruz and comedian Larry Larkin are sure not to disappoint as they appear in a special Showtime and Dinner at the Club with their captivating musical comedy act. Also on the Club’s campus, Marlene and Chet Solender will provide an insightful presentation on the life of Johnny Mercer, aka “The Pixie from Dixie.” Then, there are the fun trips, arranged by Boca Pointe, that bring many smiles and friendly camaraderie. Members will travel to the Broward Stage Door Theatre for a fantastic trip down memory lane at the show “On the Radio: Sounds of the 70’s.” Moreover, there are trips to Palm Beach Dramaworks to view “The Most Happy Fella” and the Actor’s Playhouse for the showing of “Mid-Life2!” And, there is so much more!

These events are following other extraordinary entertainment. Boca Pointe hosted the Israeli Scouts Caravan in June. This is a group of young adults, ages 16 and 17, who sing numerous Hebrew songs along with dancing that is directed by top Israeli directors. They travel to America and have appeared on 12 different TV shows as well as performed across many venues including Boca Pointe! This was a night to remember for our members!

So, what’s with the Michael Jackson Immortal World Tour? Well, it is one of the top 10 grossing music tours of all time. While the show could not be booked at the Club because its calendar is so full and tight, Jane Young was able to secure amazing prime seats at the BB&T Center this past May, with members sitting in rows 18 to 21! As with all our trips, this was a hassle-free event with a ride from the Club to the front door of the performance center then a relaxing, care-free ride back to the Club – no traffic, no tension, no worries – just a whole lot of fun!

For the upcoming season, Jane Young has so much planned that your calendar will be exploding!

Do you like the theater? Take your pick of prime seating at the Broward Center for such shows as Annie, Phantom of the Opera, The Lion King, Motown, The Musical, Pippin, and Anything Goes.

Is music your cup of tea? DuDu Fisher, the renowned Israeli cantor and Broadway star, is bringing a musical journey of Hebrew, Yiddish and Broadway favorites. DuDu is part of the Community Performing Arts Series at Spanish River Church. That’s right, a church. Jane Young has tickets available to our members for this series that is sure to be amazing.

Following on the heels of a sellout success of the Neil Diamond Tribute at the Club, Jane Young also has The Bronx Wanderers returning after great success last season. Only this time, this five-person showstopper featuring a father and two-sons will be on a Sunday night as part of a dinner show in the Main Dining Room, Jan. 25, 2015 – another first for the Club. This group brings joyful intensity to Rock n’ Roll favorites from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s!

When it comes to your calendar, do you like to mix it up a little? Well, The Bronx Wanderers are one of six in the Club’s Showtime Series that features a wide variety of talent from music to comedy to impressionists. This series has become a Friday night entertainment staple to so many of our members and is available as a series purchase. Individual show tickets may also become available.

Tired yet? Well, among all the special club events there are plenty of additional regular fun social events from seeing a Marlins-Mets baseball game to art exhibits to many additional lively club events, including day and overnight trips, a cruise, classical concert series, seminars, FAU lecture series, dance lessons, dinner dances, art classes, card lessons, book club, and the list goes on and on!

For those of you who are single, there are events for you to mix and mingle with other singles. Boca Unos organizes Happy Hour once a month and invites several country clubs to join them at our Club where singles can socialize with longtime friends and make new friends. Similarly, there is the Inter-Club, which offers single events to enjoy once a month among 12 local country clubs, both on the Boca Pointe campus and hosted at other clubs.

Single ladies, we even have something extra special for you! While many new friends will be made as laughter and fun abound through Boca Unos and the Inter-Club, there is also a new single women’s group being introduced that will foster companionship by attending events together, creating friendly bonds and an inter-network to help one another have a much fuller life.

And, for those inclined to add some physical activities to their lifestyle, Boca Pointe has the Athletics Center with many workout programs along with the wonderful anticipation for the new Sports and Fitness Center to open its doors late this year. Furthermore, if you are a golf or tennis player, a fresh looking golf course will continue to “wow” golfers as well as the highly active programming offered in both tennis and golf for all types of players – the competitive and social minded.

Membership, certainly has its privileges, but at The Club at Boca Pointe, there are memberships to fit everyone’s lifestyle—whether its 12-months a year or seasonal. Residents can design a membership to best suit their lifestyle.
