We’re going to have a Celebration!
That’s right, the Club at Boca Pointe is launching an important Celebration…a Celebration that will rank Boca Pointe’s beautifully designed championship golf course among the top in South Florida, according to Buck Deibel, Director of Golf for this non-mandatory, equity country club.

Deibel heads The Club at Boca Pointe research team. He has held numerous meetings, discussions with agronomists, and visited other golf courses in the area, before finally selecting Celebration grass for its new fairways.

Celebration grass is a deep blue-green, high performance Bermuda grass that has finished best in numerous university research studies for wear tolerance and recovery. It is drought resistance and performs well across a wide variety of applications. Among the diverse Bermuda grass available, Celebration grass is the most proven and is currently being used successfully in such venues as homes, professional golf courses, and sports and parks throughout The South.

Being shade and wear tolerant, Celebration grass is excellent for golf courses. In fact, many of the other country clubs in South Florida are switching to Celebration grass if they had ventured out to try something new. They have found Celebration grass to be the most cost effective.

According to Deibel, “These characteristics are particularly important for us. The number of rounds we play increase yearly, especially with the continued growth of our popular Premier membership category. We are the only non-mandatory equity club in Palm Beach County with a program designed for seasonal members who might not live within its private community.”

The celebration goes well beyond setting up a Celebration fairway to accompany Boca Pointe’s Tiff Eagle greens. Deibel explains, “We are laying a new irrigation system to water the Celebration grass properly, as well as re-doing our cart paths and tee boxes to complete the renovation activities.”

Because of its great growing characteristics and results, Celebration is a favorite of golf courses, especially during renovation projects. Technically, Celebration grass is a rapidly growing type of Bermuda grass that establishes very quickly. As a result of its aggressive growth, it is less susceptible to disease and insect pressure. Furthermore, due its density, it often chokes out weeds that may try to creep in. All of these qualities equate to less downtime and more rounds played.

The Club at Boca Pointe, a country club in Boca Raton, is celebrating daily with the decision to move forward with Celebration grass for its fairways!
