The Club at Boca Pointe is on the move again!
The members gave overwhelming consent—golfers and non-golfers alike—to start work on installing a new irrigation system as well as rebuilding the fairways, tee boxes and cart paths of their well-designed, Jack Nicklaus golf course. These improvements will keep the Boca Pointe community beautiful and players challenged!
“The golf course is essential to the continued success of our Club.” according to Helen Karpel, general manager at The Club at Boca Pointe. “For example,” she adds, “we are experiencing good growth through our uniquely flexible Premier membership program, and it is essential to have a great golf course.”
According to Karpel, the golf course and its irrigation system are original, nearly 32 years old. The irrigation system has been breaking down, and it is becoming more difficult to find parts. Notably she adds, “While we rebuilt the greens about 10 years ago, it is time to rebuild the fairways to be competitive.”
Boca Pointe will be installing a new grass called Celebration, which does not require tilling and grows fast in the South Florida climate. And, while improvements are in the air, the tee boxes and cart paths will be redone to give the golf course a pristine look and feel. Smartly, they also proactively addressed the need to replace the irrigation system to ensure proper watering for the long-term growth of the grass.
“With the new, state-of-the-art irrigation system to support healthy fairways,” Karpel explains, “we will have a more beautiful and competitive golf course for the Boca Pointe community and members to enjoy.” In addition to the golf upgrades, the Club is looking forward to its new, state-of-the-art Sports and Fitness complex, accompanied by its newly designed main clubhouse lobby. Karpel notes, “These enhancements will give our country club a fresh look and even further appeal.”
The Board and its leaders are making every effort to ease the process of construction. Work on the golf course will be strategically divided over two summers for the members’ greatest convenience and benefit. Similarly, the Sports and Fitness Complex is on target for a completion by the end of 2014 or early 2015. Boca Pointe can relate to the familiar motto, “No pain, No gain.” The Club is doing its best to alleviate the pain of construction and accentuate the gain to come. Our members are the very best, and through their cooperation, they demonstrate their understanding of the complexities involved in achieving our goals and appreciation of the reward soon to be enjoyed by all!
