Rick McGee, one of the top teaching pros in South Florida, has been named Head Professional at the Club at Boca Pointe rounding out its golf staff that includes a Master-PGA teacher and a winner of the U.S. Women’s Open, it was announced today by Buck Deibel, Director of Golf.
“We are excited to have Rick join our team,” said Deibel. “Rick joins Kathy Guadagnino (nee Baker), director of instruction, who is one of 13 woman professional golfers to make the U.S. Open her first career victory in her first attempt in1985. Kathy is also the assistant women’s golf coach at FAU. Deibel is also one of the only certified-PGA Master Professionals in this area.
Prior to joining the Club at Boca Pointe, Rick served director of golf at the Country Club at Boca Raton, now known as Via Mizner. There for 13 years, he was responsible the entire golf operations, but his specialty and expertise focuses on giving lessons to players of all abilities. Rick also was the head golf professional at The Golf Club of Plantation, Stonebridge and The Polo Club.
“We are fortunate to be able to attract a PGA professional with the credentials that Rick has,” Deibel adds. “Rick completes our teaching team which will provide our members a variety of teaching styles. That’s important at our club because of the diverse membership which includes members who live at Boca Pointe as well as those members who play here regularly but live outside our gates.”
This variety of instruction opportunities includes private lessons, playing lessons, clinics and the use of high tech equipment that analyzes the golf swing and computerized analysis of every stroke whether you’re a low handicapper or just learning the game. “We work with many different skill sets”, says Deibel. “We have low scorers who want to fine tune their game to the intermediate golfer who is trying to break out of a rut, or someone who never played but wants to learn the game” he adds.
“From a challenge standpoint, we have been fortunate in being able to blend our equity members with our new Premier members who come to Boca Pointe a Country Club Boca Raton, from throughout the U.S., with heavy concentration in the Northeast corridor and our north of the border friends from Canada. We have monthly themed mixers and that allows us to put together groups that might not normally socialize outside of golf. It is great to see a table at the dinner-dance where couples from Montreal are blending with couples from Brooklyn or Philadelphia or Wisconsin.
